History

The Lionheart Academies Trust was founded in April 2014 in order to establish a foundation for the improvement and enhancement of educational provisions in Leicester and Leicestershire. Beauchamp College, the lead academy in the trust, has an excellent track record receiving an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating during the last inspection. While sitting in the top 3% of all schools in the country following the 2014 examination results, the plan is to use Beauchamp as a model for the other schools in the trust to follow and enable them to benchmark.

Two of the schools in our Trust, Longslade Community College and Stonehill High School in Birstall, merged in April 2015 to become The Cedars Academy. This merger has enabled the basis for an outstanding 4-19 provision in Birstall, allowing the natural progression from primary schools Riverside and Highcliffe and through The Cedars Academy providing our young people with the greatest opportunity to go on to Higher Education and into the world of work.

Before the merger in March 2015, under the Trust’s guidance, Longslade were rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted – a huge improvement on the ‘Inadequate’ rating of the previous inspection. Similarly, both primary schools have improved to ‘Good’ from ‘Requires Improvement’ since joining the trust. Due to our success in Birstall, coupled with the evident need for further educational provisions in the area, we opened Hallam Fields Primary School in August 2017 – a brand new one-form entry school serving the Hallam Fields estate on the west side of Birstall.

We hope to continue to build on the precedent of raising standards of attainment whilst delivering the highest quality of holistic development to every one of our students. We hope you can join us on our journey to ‘Outstanding’.
