New beginning for Newhall Junior
We are proud to have delivered a fantastic temporary school building for Newhall Junior School in Swadlincote, marking the first stage of its journey towards a brand-new permanent facility.
The school has now moved into a purpose-built temporary building on the playing fields of neighbouring Mercia Academy. This ensures pupils can continue learning in a modern and inspiring environment while the old building is demolished and a modern new school is constructed as part of the Department for Education’s School Rebuilding Programme.
Although temporary, the new accommodation offers bright, spacious classrooms and excellent facilities for both pupils and staff. The move was completed on time thanks to the hard work and collaboration between Lionheart Educational Trust, the Department for Education and Reds10, the appointed contractor.
Work to demolish the old school building will begin soon, with the new permanent facility scheduled for completion in 2027.
We are thrilled to have successfully moved into our new temporary building, which pupils and staff are already enjoying.
Said Head of School, Clare Weaver.
This transition means learning can continue in a safe and welcoming space while we prepare for the exciting redevelopment of our permanent school.
I would also like to thank our incredible Newhall staff. Their hard work and teamwork have been outstanding during what could have been a very challenging time.
Michael Ruddick, Director at Reds10 Modular, said:
We are proud to have delivered high-quality temporary accommodation for Newhall Junior School as part of the Department for Education’s School Rebuilding Programme. At Reds10, we understand that while change takes time, education can’t pause, so we have worked closely with our partners to ensure a smooth, timely transition into a safe and inspiring learning environment. It has been a pleasure to support Lionheart Educational Trust and the school community during this important phase of their journey.
We are delighted to see this project moving forward and look forward to creating a modern, state-of-the-art school that will serve the local community for generations to come.
